Disintegrations 1-45 is an ongoing series that investigates the photographic representation and circulation of catastrophic events. The images depict the cloud as iconic of that moment after an impact and before the dust settles. Working with low-res images of various types of cloud, dust and debris, Henderson’s work feels both familiar and disorienting as one tries to pinpoint the events embedded in the pixelated image. Disintegrations 1-45 not only explores the idea of shared memory by navigating the Internet as a source of archive, but also highlights oversaturation and loss inherent in the translation from digital media to print.
